LWES PTSA NEEDS YOU
While we are all beginning this year virtually, we still need volunteers to fill in our committee chair positions so we are best able to serve our teachers and students! This is a great year to begin serving in a PTSA role because while we are virtual, our normal roles are reduced and you will have more time to get up to speed!
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in filling a role or hearing more about one. Meetings are generally the first Monday of the month, with exceptions for holidays, etc. Our first board meeting is Monday, September 14th, and the first General meeting will be Monday, October 5th. Attendance is required for committee chairs. Meetings through January will take place on Zoom.
Reflections Chair - will be responsible for collecting art pieces (however possible) and organizing judging and prize ordering for all entries. Reflections is going on right now!
Book Fair - Our current chair would like to train someone new this fall since her kiddos have graduated! Our fall fair will be online, greatly simplifying your tasks. This position would also benefit from having several dedicated volunteers to assist with in-person fairs, so any interest is appreciated!
Spirit Wear - will be responsible for coordinating spirit wear orders with our supplier. Our spirit wear ordering process is now online!
Hospitality - needs one or more people who love spoiling our staff members!
Family Fun Nights - we would like to have a committee of people for this role to share in planning events. At this time all events are virtual.
Needs for spring:
Popcorn - we would like to have at least 2 people to chair this position, our kiddos love their popcorn Fridays and we want to be ready to start up as soon as we are safely able!
Theater - we could be able to put on a spring Missoula or other theater production if we have a willing chair!
VP of Fundraising - we are not running a fundraiser this fall, but we do need a replacement chair for spring and next year!
Treasurer - Lisa Heins is in her last year and would love to have the incoming treasurer for 2021-22 start early so she can pass on all her hard-earned knowledge!
President - Liana Crandall is in her last year and would love to have the incoming President for 2021-22 start early so she can pass on all her hard-earned knowledge!
***PROGRAM POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE***
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a K-12 program that makes it easy for fathers (or father figures) to spend meaningful time with their children in a school setting.
Volunteers are asked to spend at least one day (or 2 half-days) at Lake Wilderness Elementary supporting students and being a positive male role model through: Monitoring school property, helping with bus duty and greeting students as they arrive, working one-on-one or in small groups, reading, assisting with assignments, lunch, refereeing games, listening ears, and other student related needs. WATCH DOGS can volunteer any day they are available during the school year.
If you're interested in being a Watch DOG or getting more information, email Robert to get connected!
All WATCH DOGS must be cleared by the Tahoma School District. Fill out your volunteer application here!

Consider this your personal invitation to be a part of popcorn Fridays! Each week LWES PTSA sells popcorn and fruit leather to students during recess. Volunteers are needed every week to make this happen:
Two volunteers are needed on Thursday afternoons from 1:10PM - 3:00 PM to pop popcorn.
Two volunteers are needed on Friday mornings from 9:20AM – 11:00 AM to sell fruit leather and popcorn during all first recesses. Please arrive at 9:00 AM to set up your table and chairs (undercover) so you are ready by 9:20 AM.
This is a fun volunteer opportunity and the kids love it!

We LOVE our volunteers! Adults who volunteer in the classroom, chaperone field trips, help during field day, or work directly with students in any way (including PTSA after school events), are required to complete Tahoma’s background check and be cleared to volunteer. The background check process is done entirely on line (there is no longer a paper packet to fill out). If you have NOT completed an ELECTRONIC background check, please click here and complete it ASAP. Thank you!
