We LOVE our volunteers! Adults who volunteer in the classroom, chaperone field trips, help during field day, or work directly with students in any way (including PTSA after school events), are required to complete Tahoma’s background check and be cleared to volunteer. The background check process is done entirely on line (there is no longer a paper packet to fill out). If you have NOT completed an ELECTRONIC background check, please click here and complete it ASAP. Thank you!
Do you have any FUN ideas? Of course you do!
Please let us know how you would like to use your talents and make Family FUN Nights the place to be!
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a K-12 program that makes it easy for fathers (or father figures) to spend meaningful time with their children in a school setting.
Volunteers are asked to spend at least one day (or 2 half-days) at Lake Wilderness Elementary supporting students and being a positive male role model through: Monitoring school property, helping with bus duty and greeting students as they arrive, working one-on-one or in small groups, reading, assisting with assignments, lunch, refereeing games, listening ears, and other student related needs. WATCH DOGS can volunteer any day they are available during the school year.
All WATCH DOGS must be cleared by the Tahoma School District. Fill out your volunteer application here!
Consider this your personal invitation to be a part of popcorn Fridays! Each week LWES PTSA sells popcorn and fruit leather to students during recess. Volunteers are needed every week to make this happen:
This is a fun volunteer opportunity and the kids love it!

Local Unit #9.14.7 - Proudly Serving Lake Wilderness Elementary in Maple Valley, Washington
LWPTSA is proud to partner with LWES for National Kindness Week!
WHO: Lake Wilderness students and their families are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to double up on being kind community contributors.
WHAT: We are running a fundraiser to support PTSA programs, scholarships for Camp Casey, buses for field trips, teacher and staff appreciation, our first end of year carnival, and much more.
WHEN: Please return your leaves of kindness with funds attached during National Kindness Week: February 11th-15th. We will be displaying all leaves on a tree in the foyer of LWES.
HOW: Participants will ask for sponsors for kind deeds. Students may ask someone to sponsor them $1 and they can write a letter of appreciation to local first responders, or maybe get sponsored $5 to pick up litter at the park. The idea is that they are raising kindness dollars that go toward the good of the community, all while bettering the same community with their actions.
OTHER DETAILS: 5 kind participants will be drawn at random and get to enjoy lunch with our Mayor, Sean P. Kelly as a thank you for being kind citizens. Please make checks payable to LWPTSA.
